Traditional Marseille soap is made by saponification in a cauldron according to the "Marseillais process", with simple ingredients and without preservatives, colorants or perfumes. Soap makers Le Serail have been in operation since 1949 on the site of an old farm within the city limits of Marseille. Olive oil savon de Marseille naturally has a rich, complex scent: fresh, clean and earthy. Hand cut and air dried. This refined soap has been cut into flakes to dry and then re-formed to reduce humidity and improve longevity.
